Marsabit’s once abundant population of elephants, and its wildlife in general has plummeted due to poaching and human encroachment. Otherwise many mammals live here including greater Kudus.Marsabit town is 390km from Nanyuki and 280 km from Samburu National Reserve.
Day 4:Early breakfast and depart for Kalacha an urban centre between Lake Turkana and Marsabit Town. Arrive for lunch at the camp. After a very nice time of relaxing, make either a visit to the local people or the Chalbi desert for this is the Cabra Community which stays next to the desert. Dinner and overnight at the Camp.
Day 5: After breakfast depart for Loyangalani at Lake Turkana arriving for lunch either at the local people’s Turkanas camp site or at the lodge. Lake Turkana is the largest lake in Kenya. In the evening make a visit to the local people’s boma (manyattas) or village. Dinner and overnight at Loyangalani Camp Site.
Day 6: After breakfast proceed to the lake shore for boat ride and visit the Elmolo people living in the Island in the lake. This is believed to be the smallest tribe in Kenya with a population of less than 100 people. After having a wonderful time on the lake, come back for lunch then relax. Dinner and overnight at the camp.
Day 7: Early breakfast and depart for Maralal having lunch enroute, arrive at evening then dinner and overnight at the Yare Camp Site or Banda
Day 8: After breakfast depart for Lake Baringo in the Rift Valley. Arrive for lunch at the camp. Relax until evening and proceed for boat ride or nature walk. Lake Baringo is famous for many different types of birds especially the herons and fish eagle. Its here on the Island which is located in the middle of the lake one can visit a small family of the Jemp people, this is one of the maa language speaking tribe in Kenya.
Day 9: After late breakfast at Lake Baringo depart for Nakuru via Lake Bogoria to Nakuru National Park. Lake Bogoria is famous for the hot springs that come from underground and the greater Kudus. Arrive at Lake Nakuru National Park Camp Site for lunch. Relax until 4.00pm for evening game drive. Lake Nakuru is much famous for its millions of flamingoes that roams at the lake. At first, the park was established as a birds sanctuary and later different mammals like White and Black Rhinos were introduced. One also has a high chance of spotting a leopard which is rarely seen on other parts across the country. Dinner and overnight at the camp.
Day 10: After breakfast depart for Nairobi via Lake Naivasha (optional) as Lake Naivasha is believed to be a birds paradise and a home to the hippos. One hires a boat and goes for a very wonderful boat ride visiting the hippopotamus and birds on the lake. Arrive Nairobi for lunch making an end to the arid and the semi arid circuit of Northern Kenya and the Rift Valley |
